Good churches in Austria
After conversion, it is important to attend a good church. The Bible urges every believer not to abandon the congregation.
Hebrews 10:24-25: And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Requirements for a good church
Choosing a good church is, of course, crucial. In today's world, it's more important than ever to carefully examine the direction a particular congregation takes. However, as a newcomer, it's often difficult to assess from the outset whether a community meets the necessary criteria or not. The following is a list of churches that almost certainly promote a false gospel:
The Catholic Church
The Orthodox Church
The New Apostolic Church
The Mormons
The Adventists
Jehovah's Witnesses
Avoid these religious communities at all costs, as they all believe and preach a gospel of salvation by works. Perhaps you're thinking that a large portion of them are already eliminated. What's left? In fact, the fact that most so-called "churches" are on the wrong path confirms the words of Jesus Christ, who said:
Matthew 7:14: For the gate is small and the road is narrow that leads to life, and only a few find it.
When the path is narrow and few find it, it is no wonder that the world's churches have missed it—and have done so since their very beginnings. The Catholic Church, for example, has always believed in salvation through works via water baptism. This delegitimizes the Church from God's perspective, because Scripture speaks clearly of a salvation that is not based on works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
That leaves the Free Churches in Austria, as well as the independent religious communities, as potential options. However, even with the latter, it's crucial to carefully examine the doctrine of salvation being taught and whether too much heresy has crept in, necessitating a search for a different congregation. The following list of congregations can be considered to represent the true gospel:
Donaustadt Bible Community (Baptist Church)
Evangelical Church Liesing
This list is not exhaustive, but rather provides an overview of churches in eastern Austria that meet the basic criteria. All the churches mentioned uphold the doctrine of salvation by faith alone, that is, the principle of 'once saved, always saved'. Furthermore, the Donaustadt Bible Church uses the Schlachter 2000 translation, which is based on the Textus Receptus and is considered the best Bible translation in the German-speaking world.
